"Michael,
Thanks for your note and for sharing all this. I am incredibly impressed. Wow.
I was at dinner with my family last night and we were talking about leadership and why certain people succeed and others do not. I was trying to explain to my kids that being a business leader has a lot more to do with how you connect with and encourage/motivate people versus technical skills, etc. I tried to use real life examples, etc. to relay the points. I got a lot of blank stares…
In any event, I love what you are doing here and how you are making it relatable to children. I do fear greatly that younger generations are growing up much more pessimistic than our generation. We grew up with relative peace and prosperity whereas younger generations have seen pandemics, impeachments, economic inequality, etc. There has never been a time where developing leadership skills in our children is more important.
I do like the themes you present and I think the way you explain the lessons is very relatable. I’m not an author or editor, so not sure how helpful I can be with suggestions other than to say that if the book existed when my kids were young, I would have bought it and read it to them.
Again, bravo. I really admire what you are doing here. Let me know how I can be of help. If you send me the final manuscript, I'd be happy to give it a look. What you are doing is really impressive.”

"Hi Michael
This looks like a fascinating project, really promising. I listened to the available audio, and the voice over guy nailed it. Great voice, perfected the metre, was expressive without being distracting.
I also love the gentle way you've approached the topics. I know it's for kids, but some self-help books about leadership can come across as either aggressive or more focused on self-promotion than helpful.
It sounds like you've worked hard on creating a piece of accessible fiction (and rhyming no less!) with a solid and actionable takeaway. I was getting "Dr Seuss for the 21st century" vibes.
I wish you the best of luck getting this traditionally published. It could be the start of a whole new genre!"

"Mike,
Ok, just got through going through everything. Here are my thoughts:
(1) Amazing work! I love that it rhymes and can’t imagine the toll and creativity that it took to foster this.
(2) I think you NAILED it with the Audible VO artist. Too many times I’ve seen authors have their ego get in the way and they want to be the one to read their book for the audio version, and not all are cut out to do it. I’m not saying whether you are or aren’t but, the guy who is reading it is smooth like butter and will be very calming for kids whose lives are moving 100 mph. Very engaging.
(3) Website is top-notch. No stone uncovered and it gives a sense of high quality.
A publisher would be FORTUNATE to obtain you and this work as their client.
Sorry for the long message, but I wanted to just give my opinion on something that I believe has massive potential and can help many. I think this is a top-notch project and believe you can take this next level! You should be proud of this!"

I had a chance to give your site a look this morning - damn, it looks really good! and I love the narrator - he must have had a blast doing this assignment for you. You have something really special here - something I would share with every member of my organization and implore any parent to read.

Mr. Gordon,
Thank you again for coming to 3rd grade and reading the first three chapters of your book. I am sure the kids would love to have you back to hear more!
I really enjoyed the style of your writing. I don't know of any other chapter books for children that are written in rhyme. I think it is a great way to grab reader attention. Young readers who are not always eager to pick up a book will find enjoyment out of the style you chose.
From what I've heard in just the first three chapters of The Six Simple Secrets, it is clear that children will follow along with Jeremy Bean as he makes some mistakes and learns very important lessons for life. I think the story presents great life lessons for elementary aged children.
I am looking forward to having a copy in my classroom one day!

I think that developing leadership skills like empathy, confidence, rationality, and goalsetting, before adolescence, with significantly ease the ongoing pains of the teenage years where the skills are the rarest.
I think the biggest testament to someone’s ability to teach about personal development is if they are a well-developed person, and Professor Gordon Gordon‘s teaching certainly indicates that that is the case. Professor Gordon has developed his intellect, his career, and interpersonal skills, and is certainly qualified to discuss the development of those skills.
Leadership not only means leadership over others, but also yourself. No man is truly a master leading others before himself. Personal development skills are vital as they provide an understanding of one’s personal motives and interests in life. The sooner you develop leadership skills and learn these valuable lessons, the more experience you will gain. Experience allows you to make tough decisions a lot easier with an "I can handle this mindset."
Leadership and personal development skills are so essential and important because we all will be leaders. Maybe not in the formal sense of holding a high-ranking position, but we all have moments where we are asked to lead – group projects, trainings, sports teams, etc. Learning lessons in leadership at a young age will set you ahead of many of your peers, and prepare you to develop into an influential leader. It is important to but the concepts you learn into practice, and so the earlier you start, the better. Professor Gordon would be a great person to author a book on leadership and personal development.
When I was a kid, I found comfort in being a follower, because it was easy, and I could simply look to others for the answers I needed. It is so easy to fall into the habit of being docile, staying safe in your comfort zone, rather than making proactive bold decisions. Learning lessons and leadership at a young age is so important because it teaches kids to be comfortable being uncomfortable. Being in the spotlight is scary in any capacity, but many kids, still dream of leading in some facet of their life, whether it be becoming a Director, or simply leading a work project. People need to learn leadership as kids because they are in the age range where they are more carefree and free from the pressures of society. Once they get accustomed to leading as kids, they can carry those skills on to anything when standards become much more rigid.
Being a good leader means to lead by example, and Professor Gordon did exactly that. His teaching style was incredibly easy to follow and understand. Also, Professor Gordon encouraged myself and others to stand up against our fears. Specifically, when I did not want to present in front of the class, Professor Gordon mentioned it is crucial, and a part of many job professions. Encouragement like this is what makes a good leader and it is why Professor Gordon would be a great author on leadership and personal development.
I think that the ability to understand what personal development is, may be hard at a young age as you simply go about your life without really thinking twice. College for me was the point where I began thinking in personal development terms. Ever since that clicked, almost everything, I’ve done in my life since then, is to figure out ways of developing and excelling in life. If I could’ve figured that out at an earlier stage, who knows where I would’ve been today
I believe the Professor Gordon is a great person for the role of leading and teaching. The most prevalent feature of his teaching style is the way he pictures his thoughts for the people who listen to him through stories and examples that makes it easy for the listener to understand. Another great feature is engagement and understanding of other peoples thoughts. Although some kids in class might not express the right answers always he won’t tell them off or ignore them. Instead he’ll acknowledge their understanding of the issue and offer a different outlook that makes sense.
After watching a documentary on social media, I realized how anxious, frustrated, and depressed many children, even elementary age actually are. Social media, exposes kids to fear of judgment and need for approval, two terrible things. Offering kids empowerment in the form of leadership within their personal lives, within their realm of control, might alleviate some tension brought on by social media. Learning leadership skills that are highly applicable to a child’s life might give them the confidence so many kids lack to escape that judgment, anxiety, and depression many kids, unfortunately unfairly face, I know I did as a young teen. I honestly thought Professor Gordon’s teaching style was highly efficient, inclusive, and supportive. He encouraged participation and personal leadership and no one ever felt afraid to ask a dumb question. He was highly personable, and didn’t carry the massive ego other professors typically do. He gave grades that were deserved and was even generous at times when he saw students who put in the extra effort, even if they didn’t get the answer always right. Really the sign of a good leader.
Leadership and personal development skills are so important every age, especially in today’s world, because everyone wants to be a good teammate and leader in their own way. This helps an individual stand out in a positive way when they are able to work well with others and speak to crowd and public, speaking settings. Learning that confidence and leadership qualities at a young age can only help kids later in life, because the more comfortable you are in your own skin and knowledge the more you can do and help those who lack those skills are abilities and make a difference. And people will always appreciate someone who works out for their team and those who need a supportive leader.
I think I’ve only really learned how important leadership and especially social skills are in my first two years of college. Having good interpersonal skills can be the difference in getting a good seat for class, studying right for a test, or getting that interview or not. Social skills, especially leadership are important to learn from a young age because we learn from each other, and having these skills helps us learn more and learn more at a very important, developmental period.
Professor Gordon teaches unlike the majority of modern professors these days who simply read off a PowerPoint presentation. He forgo the presentation and teaches what he knows and what’s in his notes because he really does know his stuff. It certainly makes the class more engaging and I think makes the Gordon a real leader. I think she would be the perfect person to author a book about personal development because he is one of those rare teachers, who actually does care about your development.
Leadership and professional development skills are very important because they make us grow as individuals. I think learning these skills at a young age would be most beneficial, because the skills could be helpful in high school, and also if you learn that at a young age, you’ll have mastered them by the time you get to college. I personally wish I had learned these skills when I was younger, because I feel that they would’ve helped me be a better leader in high school and would’ve improved my networking skills and success in college.
When I was a kid, I found comfort in being a follower, because it was easy, and I could simply look to others for the answers I needed. It is so easy to fall into the habit of being docile, staying safe in your comfort zone, rather than making proactive bold decisions. Leadership and personal development skills are critical to learn, especially at a young age as their skills which will define and improve your Kocher. Developing a sense of self as a child and a person in general is extremely important to the way you grow. Instilling in yourself who exactly you are without the constraints of anybody else is crucial to creating your personality and becoming the person you were meant to be. Personal development skills are also important to being a human and working on yourself as you grow grow up will strengthen your character improve the type of person you are. I really enjoyed the way Professor Gordon structured the class. I can imagine teaching business law to a bunch of half asleep college kids can be difficult, but the way Professor Gordon related legal terminology to real life events and gave us useful information and personal development skills will help me forever in the future.
